DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, February 6th 2019\, Julie Croff\, PhD\, MPH will present Improving lives through prevention\, treatment\, training\, and research – The OSU Center for Wellness and Recovery. \nThis presentation will explore the opioid epidemic in Oklahoma and ways the Center for Wellness and Recovery at OSU Center for Health Sciences is working to combat it through training\, clinical care\, and research. \nThe goals of this presentation are to: \n\nDescribe the dual epidemics of pain and substance use disorders\nDescribe the social and structural drivers of the opioid epidemic\nIdentify areas for collaboration through our solutions framework\n\nJulie Croff\, Ph.D.\, MPH\, Executive Director of the OSU Center for Wellness and Recovery; Dr. Croff is the Executive Director of the Center for Wellness and Recovery at the OSU Center for Health Sciences and an Associate Professor in the Department of Rural Health. Previously\, she served as the founding director of the MPH program at Oklahoma State University. She is currently the Principal Investigator of FAB\, an NIH-funded project that seeks to explore the interaction of substance use and dietary behavior. Dr. Croff has published widely in the area of alcohol and other drugs\, across multiple populations\, including college students\, Native Americans\, and gay and bisexual men. She received her PhD in Public Health\, with emphasis on health behavior\, from the joint program at the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University. She received her Master of Public Health with emphasis on Social and Behavioral Sciences from Boston University. \nThe seminar starts at 11:3oam and we will be serving a catered lunch. The cost is $20 cash or check at the door.
